Alright.
Take a breath.
This is for you.
I can’t tell you how often I speak to farmers and they doubt themselves, criticize themselves, play small and tell me how hard some facet of their business is (usually it’s building their CSA).
This pep talk is for you.
You are not behind.
You’re not failing.
You are not “bad at business.”
Consider that you are building something most people are too afraid to attempt.
For 15+ years I have farmed. I have grown food in droughts and downpours. I have mothered children into adulthood. I have built a profitable business when it would have been easier to quit.
And here’s what I know:
Anything worth growing takes time.
You do not plant a seed and dig it up every day to check if it’s working.
You plant it.
You water it.
You protect it.
You trust the process.
Your business is no different.
Confidence is no different.
Your life is no different.
There were seasons on the farm when the weeds felt taller than the crops. Seasons when money (and patience) felt tight. Seasons when I was bone-tired from packing CSA shares before sunrise and helping with homework after sunset.
But here’s the truth no one talks about:
The magic isn’t in having it all together.
The magic is in staying.
Staying when it’s uncomfortable.
When you feel uncertain.
Staying when you’re learning something new and feel clumsy.
That is where resilience is grown.
And let me tell you something as a woman entrepreneur and a mother:
You are allowed to build wealth.
You are allowed to take up space.
You are allowed to run a profitable business without apology.
You are allowed to want peace and success at the same time.
We have been conditioned to overwork and undercharge. To hustle and then feel guilty for resting. To carry the emotional load of everyone around us while questioning our own capacity.
No more.
Systems create freedom.
Boundaries create clarity.
Planning creates peace.
Success is not about grinding harder. It is about deciding who you are and acting from that identity every single day.
Tell yourself this right now:
I am a capable farmer.
And a strategic business owner.
I am a steady leader.
And a mother who models courage.
That identity carried me through 15 years of profitable organic farming through tough calls, hard choices, a million decisions, crop failures, employee crises, and now through reinvention.
And it will carry you too.
Listen carefully:
You don’t need more motivation.
You need more belief.
Belief that your work matters and people want what you offer.
It’s a choice to believe that you can learn anything you don’t yet know.
Crops fail. Markets shift. Children grow. Businesses evolve.
But the woman who stays committed to her vision?
She becomes unstoppable.
So today, stop apologizing for wanting more.
Stop telling yourself you’re not ready.
Stop shrinking your dream to make others comfortable.
You have dirt under your fingernails and wisdom in your bones.
You have lived experience.
You have instincts that are sharper than you give them credit for.
Build the calendar.
Price for profit.
Market with heart.
Rest without guilt.
Lead with steadiness.
This life, your farm business, is not about perfection.
It is about consistency.
Show up again tomorrow.
And the next day.
And the next.
Because here’s the greatest truth I know after 15+ years of farming and building:
What you tend, grows.
So tend your courage.
Tend your systems.
Tend your health.
Tend your vision.
And one day, you will look back at this season and realize—
You were never barely holding it together.
You were becoming.
